Outcomes that speak for themselves

Each engagement is unique. These are a selection of the challenges our clients faced, and how we helped them move forward.

Financial Services Cloud Migration Architecture

Core banking platform modernisation

A leading UK-based bank operating legacy on-premises core banking infrastructure spanning two decades, with increasing operational risk and mounting technical debt.

The Challenge

The client's core banking system was over 20 years old, running on infrastructure that was no longer vendor-supported. Regulatory requirements for resilience and auditability could not be met without significant investment. The legacy system had also become a barrier to launching new digital products at the pace required to stay competitive.

Our Approach

Synovy Solutions led a structured discovery to fully catalogue the existing architecture and its dependencies. We designed a phased migration strategy — enabling the client to run parallel systems during transition — and provided architecture governance throughout a 26-month programme. Our team coordinated across four SI partners and multiple internal product teams.

The Outcome

The client successfully completed migration to a cloud-native banking platform, achieving full regulatory compliance and enabling three new digital product lines to launch within 12 months of go-live. Operational costs for infrastructure were substantially reduced over the following 18-month period.

Healthcare Data & Analytics Platform Design

Clinical data platform unification

A multi-site NHS-affiliated healthcare provider operating fragmented data systems across twelve clinical sites, creating silos that impacted patient care and operational efficiency.

The Challenge

Clinical data was stored across twelve separate systems, with no unified view of patient activity across sites. Reporting was manual, slow, and inconsistent — making it difficult for clinical and operational leaders to make timely, evidence-based decisions. The client also had to meet evolving NHS data standards and interoperability requirements.

Our Approach

Synovy's data practice led a comprehensive data estate assessment and designed a modern lakehouse architecture to serve as the single source of truth across all sites. We defined data governance standards, built a metadata catalogue, and oversaw the implementation of an analytics layer that enabled self-service reporting for clinical and operational teams alike.

The Outcome

The unified platform went live across all twelve sites, enabling real-time clinical intelligence for the first time. Reporting cycles were reduced from weeks to hours, and the platform was independently recognised as a model for NHS data interoperability.

Energy Cyber Security OT/IT Convergence

OT/IT security convergence programme

A major European energy provider with critical national infrastructure managing a widening security gap between their operational technology estate and enterprise IT security controls.

The Challenge

The client operated a large operational technology estate — PLCs, SCADA systems, industrial control networks — that had historically been managed in isolation from enterprise IT. Increased connectivity, driven by smart grid initiatives, had created significant and largely unquantified cyber risk exposure that regulators were beginning to scrutinise.

Our Approach

Synovy Solutions deployed a specialist OT/IT security team to conduct a full risk assessment aligned to IEC 62443 and NIST CSF. We developed a convergence architecture that extended enterprise security controls into the OT environment without compromising operational availability. A governance model was established to ensure ongoing cross-functional ownership of risk.

The Outcome

The client achieved full alignment with sector-specific regulatory requirements and passed a subsequent government-led assurance review. The converged security programme was embedded within the client's ongoing operations, with a dedicated cross-functional security team established and trained.

Logistics Cloud Advisory FinOps

Cloud cost optimisation and operating model redesign

A global logistics provider that had rapidly expanded cloud adoption without the governance structures needed to manage cost or performance at scale.

The Challenge

Following a rapid cloud-first push, the client found that cloud expenditure had grown significantly beyond projections, with limited visibility into which workloads were driving cost and why. Engineering teams were operating independently, creating inconsistency in tagging, architecture patterns, and security controls.

Our Approach

Our cloud advisory practice conducted a comprehensive workload analysis and tagging audit across the client's multi-cloud estate. We designed and implemented a FinOps operating model, established a Cloud Centre of Excellence, and developed standardised architecture patterns and guardrails to enforce consistency going forward.

The Outcome

The Cloud Centre of Excellence was established and operational within four months. Cloud cost transparency was achieved across all business units, enabling meaningful chargeback for the first time. Engineering teams reported significantly improved clarity on platform standards and expectations.
